Water is pouring out
A burst pipe, a tank overflowing, or water spreading across the floor.
Do this now
- Turn the water off at the main valve. In most Islamabad houses it is on the wall where the line comes into the house, or beside the underground tank.
- If you have a water motor or pump, switch it off at the socket. Leaving it running keeps pushing water out of the break.
- If water is anywhere near a socket, a switch or an extension lead, switch off the breaker for that part of the house before you go near it.
- Put a bucket under the leak and towels around it, and lift anything electrical off the floor.
- Take one photo of where it is leaking from. It tells us which parts to bring.

Whatever you do, don't
- Do not stand in water and reach for a switch.
- Do not wrap tape around a leaking joint, turn the pressure back on and leave it for days. A wrap buys you minutes, not a week.
- Do not keep the motor running to "push it through".
